THE 2012 PRINCE BISHOPS RUN

8th JULY 2012

You are cordially invited to take part in the 2012 Prince Bishops Run, which this year starts from the historic market town of Stokesley. This is a tour of some 96 miles, taking in historically key points on the routes taken by the medieval Prince Bishops when heading for Durham Cathedral. Starting with a short drive up into the Cleveland Hills, to take in some breath-taking scenery, we then cross counties from North Yorkshire into County Durham, the “Land of the Prince Bishops”. After a lunch halt, the journey continues, visiting some splendid locations across the Palatine of Durham, and concludes on Palace Green in front of the magnificent World Heritage site of Durham Cathedral, (by kind permission of Durham University) where a light cream tea awaits all those taking part in the run.

An entry booking form can be found by clicking HERE. You can pay by Internet banking if you have that facility or you can send your cheque as instructed to Noel Lindford, made out to MGCC Tyne-Tees Centre. Once your payment has been accepted, along with all other entrants, you will receive Joining Instructions at least a fortnight prior to the event.

On arrival at the Show-field car-parks, (reserved for us) just off Stokesley High Street, all entrants will sign on and receive a driver's pack, and vouchers for hot drinks at an adjacent café, where there is also the option to purchase bacon butties, which can be pre-ordered on the entry form.

Following a Drivers' Briefing at 09:50, cars will leave at 1 minute intervals, with the first car leaving at 10:00am prompt.

* Please note this event is limited to a maximum of 60 cars, the most that can be accommodated on Palace Green in Durham.

To avoid disappointment, an early entry application is advisable!

16th May 2012: Vulcan Lecture

Last year the B Register hosted a presentation in Abingdon on the Vulcan Bomber and it was hailed as a terrific success. We thought that a similar event held in the northeast would be of great interest to our members so we have arranged for the same team from the Vulcan to the Sky charity to come and do just that.
The venue is the Appleby Theatre at Durham University and we are hoping for a sell-out of all seats. Tickets can only be bought in advance and will not be available on the door on the night so please book early. We will be advertising this more widely than just in the Tyne-Tees Centre, including other clubs and various airfields, both commercial and military.
Full details including a booking form can be found by clicking ‘here’. You can pay by Internet banking if you have that facility or you can send your cheque as instructed to Barrie Hope, made out to MGCC Tyne-Tees Centre. It will be of great help to us if you can provide an email address to which we can send tickets in pdf format but if you prefer to use the post then please include a stamped addressed envelope with your application.
Once your payment has been accepted further details will be sent on how to get to the correct part of the University. Free car parking is provided although it would help if some car sharing could be arranged to keep the numbers down. Again, an email address would be a help to us.
