In celebration of the annual Drive-it Day, Peter and Lyn Ebdon organised yet another brilliant run through parts of the beautiful Northumberland National Park and adjacent countryside.
Compliments from participants on a day when the sun largely kept itself hidden behind rain clouds must be a great boost to Organisers who spend such a lot of time planning the route and running it several times to ensure as far as possible that it's error-free with no last-minute road closures. Very well done Peter and Lyn and with a few last-minute casulaties who couldn't make it on the day, the turn out of 53 cars was a splendid sight in the park at Brocksbushes Farm where a welcome hot drink started the day off and an even more welcome afternoon cream tea greeted us on the return at the finish.
The Judge who had the unenviable task of deciding which car he would like to take home was Ian Whalton, Site Manager at Brocksbushes and he chose the beautiful 1939 MG TB of John Adamson, who with daughter Erica completed yet another TTC event. The pictures below show John and Erica just behind the car on their return and then John receiving the trophy from Ian.

More pictures of cars at the start and on the route follow and will be added to, so keep looking. Whilst it is technically possible to enhance the pictures I have decided to give a true image of how wet it became at the start. My wife Sheila was under the umbrella trying to keep herself and the lens dry but often failing! Chairman Peter Ebdon was also acting as Starter and had to keep smiling for an hour or so.

... and then the rain really started and Peter had to get out his pretty Fijian umbrella:

and it got wetter ......
and wetter .....
and even more wetter, if you will forgive the grammar .....

but still Sheila kept on snapping, one hand clutching a brolly and the other shivering on the shutter release button .... and Peter kept smiling (or was it wincing?)

Anyway, weather issues aside, everyone eventually got away after the staggered start to enjoy the open (but slightly wet) road, some daring even to keep their tops off:

but not everyone took the risk ...

and of course, some had no option but to keep them on:
